Smite 2 has officially launched its free-to-play open beta, now accessible on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, PC, and Steam Deck. This eagerly awaited sequel, developed by Titan Forge Games, marks a significant step forward from its predecessor, leveraging the power of Unreal Engine 5 to enhance visuals and refine combat mechanics. The open beta, which kicked off on January 14, not only offers a chance to dive into the game for free but also introduces a fresh batch of content, highlighted by the addition of Aladdin as a new god.

Aladdin, crafted specifically for Smite 2, brings unique abilities to the battlefield. He can run along walls and even revive after death, thanks to his companion's ability to grant him three wishes. His ultimate ability lets him use his lamp to capture enemies, forcing them into a thrilling 1v1 showdown, staying true to his legendary origins.

Alongside Aladdin, four other gods join the roster: Geb, the Egyptian God of Earth; Mulan, the Chinese Ascendant Warrior; Agni from the Hindu Pantheon; and Ullr from the Norse Pantheon. The open beta also revives the beloved 3v3 Joust mode, allowing players to engage in intense battles on a smaller map. Fans can also explore updates to the Conquest map and try out the alpha version of the Assault game mode.

Titan Forge Games has expressed gratitude for the community's feedback during the closed alpha, which has been instrumental in shaping Smite 2. The developer promises "ambitious content" to arrive in 2025, further enhancing the game's offerings. However, while Smite 2 is available across many platforms, Nintendo Switch users will miss out on this beta phase due to concerns about the console's performance. Titan Forge Games remains open to the idea of bringing the game to the Switch 2 in the future.

With its revamped item shop, where players can select items irrespective of their chosen god's classification, Smite 2 offers a more flexible and dynamic gameplay experience.
