Recent Windows 11 Update Disrupts Assassin's Creed Gameplay; Patches Released

Following a Windows 11 update (24H2), several Assassin's Creed players encountered game launch and functionality issues. Ubisoft has swiftly addressed this problem with patches for Assassin's Creed Origins and Assassin's Creed Valhalla, available via Steam. These updates, requiring 230 MB and 500 MB of storage space respectively, should resolve the incompatibility.

However, the issue persists for some Ubisoft titles, notably Assassin's Creed Odyssey, which continues to experience launch failures or unresponsiveness for some users. While previous patches mitigated problems in other games like Star Wars: Outlaws and Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora, performance issues may remain. Players of Assassin's Creed Odyssey are advised to delay updating to Windows 11 24H2 until a dedicated fix is released.

The root cause of the incompatibility remains unclear, although reports surfaced five months prior to the official 24H2 rollout. This oversight is particularly concerning given Microsoft's push for Windows 10 users to upgrade to Windows 11. While the majority of games appear unaffected, the incident highlights potential compatibility challenges with major system updates.
