Larian Studios has officially announced the much-awaited Patch 8 for *Baldur’s Gate 3*, set to launch on Tuesday, April 15. After being available in a stress test form for some time, this update is now ready for all players. Patch 8 introduces a massive array of new content to the acclaimed Dungeons & Dragons role-playing game, including 12 new subclasses, a photo mode, cross-play functionality, and split-screen support for Xbox Series S. Bard - College of Glamour
As a College of Glamour Bard, you'll wield the power to heal allies and manipulate enemies. With Mantle of Inspiration, you can grant your allies 5 temporary hit points, and if an enemy attacks while this is active, they become Charmed. This charm can be leveraged with Mantle of Majesty, allowing you to command Charmed enemies to flee, move, freeze, drop to the ground, or disarm themselves.

Barbarian - Path of Giants
Choosing the Path of Giants enhances your Barbarian with giant-like strength, making it easier to hurl both allies and enemies. The Giant’s Rage passive not only boosts your size and strength but also increases the damage of your Throw attacks. Additionally, your carry capacity is significantly improved.

Cleric - Death Domain
As a Death Domain Cleric, you'll gain access to dark abilities focused on necrotic damage and necromancy. The new cantrip Toll The Dead deals 1~8 damage, scaling up if the target is already injured. Moreover, you can now explode nearby corpses, dealing damage to enemies in the vicinity.

Druid - Circle of Stars
Circle of Stars Druids draw power from the stars, utilizing Starry Forms that represent the Archer, Chalice, and Dragon. Each form enhances different aspects of gameplay: the Archer deals radiant damage with astral arrows, the Chalice heals you and nearby allies, and the Dragon boosts your constitution rolls while dealing damage.

Paladin - Oath of the Crown
Dedicated to upholding the law, Paladins of the Oath of the Crown can guide their allies with Righteous Clarity, taunt enemies with strategic interruptions, and protect their party with Divine Allegiance, absorbing damage and restoring health.

Fighter - Arcane Archer
Arcane Archers blend magic with archery, offering unique abilities like banishing foes to the Feywild for a turn or dealing Psychic damage that can blind enemies if they fail a Wisdom saving throw.

Monk - Drunken Master
As a Drunken Master Monk, you can consume alcohol to restore Ki, both from your inventory and from bottles found in the Sword Coast. Use Intoxicating Strike to share the drink with enemies, boosting your Armour Class and hit chance against drunk targets. Sobering Realisation sobers up enemies, inflicting physical and Psychic damage.

Ranger - Swarmkeeper
Swarmkeeper Rangers can summon three types of deadly swarms: Cloud of Jellyfish for lightning damage, Flurry of Moths for Psychic damage and potential blindness, and Legion of Bees for piercing damage and knockback. Each swarm also grants teleportation capabilities.

Rogue - Swashbuckler
Swashbuckler Rogues excel in dirty tactics, such as blinding enemies with sand, disarming them with a flick of their weapon, and using Fancy Footwork to avoid opportunity attacks during melee engagements.

Sorcerer - Shadow Magic
Shadow Magic Sorcerers thrive in darkness, gaining Superior Darkvision and the ability to Shadow Walk between dim light or darkness. They can summon the Hound of Ill Omen to harass foes and use Strength of the Grave to avoid being downed, perfect for Honour Mode runs.

Warlock - Hexblade
Hexblade Warlocks form pacts with entities from the Shadowfell, manifesting magical weapons. They can curse enemies, raise spirits from slain foes for 10 turns, and deal necrotic damage while healing themselves by consuming enemy souls.

Wizard - Bladesinging
Bladesinging Wizards blend swordplay with spellcasting, featuring new animations and the Bladesong ability, which enhances speed, agility, focus, and Constitution saving throws.

18 ImagesPatch 8 marks the final major update for Baldur’s Gate 3, concluding a stellar period for Larian Studios. Launched to critical acclaim and commercial success in 2023, the game has continued to perform strongly into 2025.

Larian surprised the gaming community by announcing their departure from Baldur’s Gate 3 and Dungeons & Dragons to focus on a new, undisclosed project. Meanwhile, Hasbro, the owner of D&D, has hinted at continuing the series. Speaking at the Game Developers Conference, SVP of digital games at Hasbro, Dan Ayoub, expressed interest in Baldur's Gate and mentioned that they are developing plans for the franchise's future. While specifics remain undisclosed, Ayoub suggested that they are considering various possibilities and are ready to share more details soon.

Larian will celebrate Patch 8's release with a Twitch livestream, where senior systems designer Ross Stephens will discuss the new changes and additions in detail.
