Bandai Namco Set to Publish New Dark Fantasy RPG From Former Witcher Devs

Bandai Namco Entertainment, the publisher behind Elden Ring, has partnered with Rebel Wolves, a Polish studio founded by key figures from The Witcher 3, to publish their debut action RPG, Dawnwalker. This marks a significant collaboration, bringing together established publishing power with a new studio brimming with experienced talent.

More Dawnwalker Details Coming Soon

The announcement, made earlier this week, confirms Bandai Namco as the global publisher for Dawnwalker, a story-driven AAA action RPG slated for release in 2025 on PC, PS5, and Xbox. Set in a dark fantasy medieval Europe, Dawnwalker targets a mature audience with its compelling narrative. Further details are promised in the coming months.

Founded in 2022, Rebel Wolves aims to redefine the RPG experience with its narrative focus. Tomasz Tinc, Rebel Wolves' chief publishing officer, expressed excitement about the partnership, highlighting Bandai Namco's established reputation for narrative-driven RPGs and their shared values. Similarly, Bandai Namco's VP of business development, Alberto Gonzalez Lorca, described Dawnwalker as a key addition to their Western market strategy, emphasizing the global reach this collaboration will facilitate.

The development team boasts impressive credentials. Mateusz Tomaszkiewicz, a veteran of CD Projekt Red and lead quest designer on The Witcher 3, leads as creative director. Co-founder and narrative director Jakub Szamalek, a nine-year CD Projekt Red veteran, confirms Dawnwalker as a new IP with a scope comparable to The Witcher 3's Blood and Wine expansion, promising a non-linear storyline and player agency. Tomaszkiewicz himself has highlighted the game's focus on player choice and replayability. The images below showcase the game's dark fantasy aesthetic.
