Bandai Namco has announced the closure of PAC-MAN Mobile, marking a poignant moment as the legendary icon celebrates its 45th anniversary this year. Launched over a decade ago, this version of the game has been a beloved staple for many players.

When Is the PAC-MAN Mobile Shutdown?

The official shutdown date for PAC-MAN Mobile is set for May 30th, 2025. In-app purchases were discontinued as of April 1st, 2024. Players can continue enjoying the game until the final day on May 30th, 2025.

Many in the community have voiced their disappointment over Bandai Namco's decision to shut down the game completely, rather than converting it to an offline mode. Such a move could have kept the game alive and potentially continued generating revenue.

This version of PAC-MAN, previously known as PAC-MAN + Tournaments, offered more than just the classic arcade experience. Alongside the iconic 8-bit arcade mode, it featured a Story Mode with numerous original mazes to navigate. Additionally, the Adventure Mode included limited-time themed events where players could unlock exclusive skins. The Tournament Mode provided weekly maze challenges with three difficulty levels. The game also boasted a variety of skins for PAC-MAN, ghosts, the joystick, and more.

The Reason

The game's performance had deteriorated over the past few years, with accumulating bugs and issues likely contributing to the decision to shut it down. The initial years after its launch on Android were filled with excitement as players competed for high scores and leaderboard rankings, making it a fun and engaging experience.
