Midjiwan has unleashed a massive update for The Battle of Polytopia, completely revamping the Aquarion Tribe. This long-awaited rework of the game's first special tribe (debuting in 2017) introduces significant changes.

Aquarion's Aquatic Transformation

The Aquarion receive a dramatic visual overhaul. Their land units now sport mermaid tails, making them either fully aquatic or amphibious. This grants them effortless water traversal, although they move slower on land. A new flooded terrain mechanic allows land and naval units to occupy the same space for the first time.

Buildings have also received an aquatic upgrade. Construction on water is now possible, and Lost Cities are hidden within deep-sea ruins, providing ideal bases for seafaring warfare. A new structure, the Atoll, connects water cities, eliminating the need for roads. The update also permanently adds Aqua Crops, functioning similarly to land-based crops.

New Aquatic Units Join the Fray

Prepare to encounter new sea creatures! Sharks provide surprise attacks, puffers offer long-range bombardment, and jellies stun enemies with electric shocks. The popular Tridentions and Crabs return, with Crabs now flooding the tiles they traverse, synergizing perfectly with the mermaid-tailed troops. See them in action:
