Before You Set Sail

The in-game lobby before you embark on your journey can be incredibly useful, though it does come at a cost. As a new player, you start with 15 Dabloons, the game's currency. While it's tempting to splurge on items like boats, bandages, and weapons, remember you'll find plenty of these in-game. Boats are pricey and unnecessary for beginners.

How To Choose A Class

Each purchase costs 3 Dabloons, and if luck is on your side, you might snag your preferred class on the first try. The gameplay is straightforward, but you'll encounter various buildings, structures, and undead creatures along the way. Mastering Dead Sails involves understanding a few key strategies.

Tips For Never Running Out Of Fuel

Screenshot by The Escapist. Given the game's name, it's no surprise your ship runs on coal. Each chunk adds 20 percent more fuel, and technically, buying 5 coal pieces per town could get you through the game. But where's the fun in that?

You'll find various collectible items off your ship, some marked as "fuel," though they only offer a 5 percent increase. The most efficient way to fuel up, aside from coal, is using undead corpses. Kill every attacker to survive and collect their bodies for fuel.

How To Survive The Night

Ideally, spend the night in town for safety. If that's not possible, buy Barbed Wire from a shop. Mounting it on your ship keeps mobs at bay. Without Barbed Wire, pause your journey and attack any approaching creature.

Which Weapon To Choose

A shotgun is a top choice due to its high damage output, perfect for unexpected combat. Alternatively, the revolver is a good early-game option. It's weaker but easier to handle and often found in buildings.

Best Items To Collect

• Moyai and Bars: Available in diamond, gold, and silver, these are lucrative.
• Healing Packs: Best kept for emergencies, though they can be sold.
• Crosses: Sell for 35 cash or use against undead.
• Weapons: Use or sell if unnecessary.
• Robot Head: Found in houses and banks, sells for 45 cash.
• Holy Water: Found in churches, sells for 25 cash.
• Gold Llama: Rare and valuable, sells for 150 cash.

You can stack items on your boat but remember to weld them to the surface to prevent them from falling off. Place an item and press the weld button (Z on the keyboard) to secure it.
