VIZ Media's Emerald City Comic Con panel brought exciting news: a Black Torch anime is officially in production! IGN has the exclusive first look at the trailer, showcasing Jiro Azuma in his stealth gear, alongside his powerful mononoke partner, Rago. A shadowy figure glimpsed in the cityscape hints at the thrilling dangers ahead.

For newcomers, Black Torch, originally serialized in Jump SQ. and Shonen Jump+ from 2017 to 2018 by Tsuyoshi Yakaki, tells a captivating story:

"A new era of ninja battles begins. Jiro, a descendant of a long line of ninjas, trained by his grandfather in the ancient art of shinobi, possesses a unique ability – he can communicate with animals. His life takes a dramatic turn after a mysterious encounter with an injured black cat named Rago. Rago, however, is no ordinary feline; he's a legendary mononoke – the Black Star of Doom! Numerous mononoke, drawn to Rago's immense power, emerge from the shadows. The undercover Bureau of Espionage is mobilized to contain this threat, but everyone has their own agenda regarding Rago's abilities. The stage is set for an explosive shinobi clash between boy and mononoke!"

Takaki, celebrating this milestone, shared a celebratory drawing (link to be added later) and commented, “I’ve been supervising the settings and storyboards, and I feel it’s been recreated into something even better, while still fully respecting the original story. A new BLACK TORCH has been brought to life, now with voices, sounds, movement and color.”
