Bandai Namco has confirmed that Blue Protocol will cease operation in Japan on January 18, 2025. Consequently, the international launch, a joint venture with Amazon Games, is also scrapped. Bandai attributes this closure to an inability to sustain a service meeting player expectations.

In an official statement, Bandai expressed regret, stating their inability to provide a satisfactory ongoing service. The company also voiced disappointment at the termination of global development with Amazon Games.

Until its final day, Bandai pledges continued support with updates and new content. However, Rose Orb purchases and refunds will be discontinued. As compensation, players will receive 5,000 Rose Orbs monthly (September 2024 – January 2025) plus 250 daily. Furthermore, the Season 9 pass (and subsequent season passes) will be free, and the final update, Chapter 7, is slated for December 18, 2024.

The game's June 2023 Japanese launch initially attracted significant attention, boasting over 200,000 concurrent players. However, launch-day server issues necessitated emergency maintenance, leading to declining player numbers and widespread dissatisfaction.

Despite a promising beginning, Blue Protocol failed to retain its player base and fell short of projected financial targets. Bandai Namco's March 31, 2024 financial report cited the game's underperformance as a contributing factor to this decision.
