Call of Duty: Warzone Experiencing Lobby Crashing Issue
Call of Duty: Warzone players are experiencing game freezes and crashes during loading screens, sometimes resulting in unfair penalties. While a permanent fix is still under development, developers have implemented a temporary solution.
The Problem: Warzone players reported widespread game freezes and crashes while loading into matches, starting in early January 2025. This issue, despite a recent major update, caused frustration, particularly due to the resulting penalties.
Developer Response: Raven Software acknowledged the problem on January 6th and, by January 9th, announced a temporary measure. Skill Rating (SR) penalties and timeouts are now suspended for players disconnecting before joining Ranked matches. This addresses player concerns about unjust punishments stemming from the bug. Penalties remain in effect for players leaving mid-match.
Ongoing Issues: Although the immediate penalty issue is mitigated, the underlying loading screen crash bug persists. This ongoing problem, coupled with previous issues like matchmaking outages and cheating concerns, highlights the ongoing challenges faced by the development team. While a full resolution is awaited, the temporary fix provides some relief to affected players. The situation underscores the ongoing need for robust bug fixing and patching within the Call of Duty: Warzone ecosystem.
