Some side quests are more enjoyable than others, but some can also be quite confusing or frustrating. Completing "In Vino Veritas" in Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 involves a series of smaller steps, almost like a side quest within a side quest.

Speak with Casper and Havel

Begin "In Vino Veritas" by speaking with Casper Rudolf, located at his drink cart on the east side of Kuttenberg City. He's easily found by heading straight from the east gate. Casper seeks the secret to the monks' superior wine. Exhaust all dialogue options to learn about Havel and the book he entrusted to Adleta. This sets the stage for your interaction with Havel.

To obtain the book from Adleta, visit her garden in the southeast corner of Kuttenberg's inner walls during the morning or afternoon. Gather five marigolds beforehand. You can either find her before her brother, Hugo, arrives, or speak with Hugo to get his permission to talk to her. Remain polite to Adleta and explain your need for the book. You might succeed with a skill check, or offer her the marigolds as a gift. Once you have the book, read it from your inventory.

Alternatively, skip Adleta entirely and proceed directly to Havel at his inn in Kuttenberg. Ensure your Charisma is at least 18 (adjust your outfit if necessary). During your conversation with Havel, select the following options: Germany, "Let's do it," "That's a very fine gift," Steinberger, and finally, "It's missing ginger." This impresses Havel, who will reveal the monastery's secret ingredient. Return this information to Casper.

Find the Monastery's Secret Ingredient

Travel to the vineyard north of Kuttenberg. Initiate the "Under the Straw Hat" side quest by speaking with the recruiter. While completing "Under the Straw Hat" isn't mandatory for "In Vino Veritas," it allows you to explore the vineyard without trespassing. Find Jerome on a bench near the main building.

Enter the main building, turn left, and locate the storeroom. Use your lockpicking skills to open the chests and obtain the Sulphur Wicks needed for Casper. For extra Groschen, collect five seedlings from the garden behind the main building before leaving.

If you choose to complete "Under the Straw Hat," perform tasks like removing plants and moving sacks. Report back to Jerome to finish the side quest and receive your reward. Regardless, return to Casper with the Sulphur Wicks (and seedlings, if you collected them).

This completes "In Vino Veritas," allowing you to progress to other quests in Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 or pursue other activities like collecting badges and dice.
