Days Gone Remastered was one of the standout announcements during Sony's recent State of Play showcase, but the $10 upgrade offer has left some PlayStation Plus subscribers feeling less than thrilled. Sony has clarified that the $10 upgrade to the remastered version on PlayStation 5 is exclusively available to those who own a PlayStation 4 disc or a digital copy of Days Gone. Unfortunately, this means that game redemptions through the subscription service PS Plus are not eligible for the discounted upgrade to the PS5 remaster.

It's important to note that Days Gone was previously available through the now-defunct PS Plus Collection and was also offered as an Essential monthly game in April 2021. As a result, those who acquired the game via PS Plus will have to pay the full $49.99 to experience the new PS5 version.

The specifics of the $10 upgrade have sparked a wave of discontent among PS Plus subscribers, leading many to voice their frustrations online. For instance, a thread on the PlayStation Plus subreddit is filled with comments from subscribers expressing their disappointment. Many have stated that they would have gladly paid the $10 to upgrade to the PS5 remaster, but now they're opting to skip the game entirely.

User squarejellyfish_ suggested, “They would actually have made a decent chunk of change if PS Plus players were eligible, even if most didn’t want to play it they’d at least be interested in paying 10 bucks to try it out for an hour or two.”

Similarly, teckn9ne79 added, “They should let Essentials upgrade cause I would pay the $10, but I will not buy it any other way. I will stick with the one I got.”

Dredizzle99 chimed in, saying, “Yeah this seems pretty stupid. There's no way I'm paying full price for this, but I'd happily pay for the upgrade at least just to check it out. Surely the majority of people that have it on PS plus are thinking the same thing, so they're basically losing all the potential sales from them.”

Jackanyon95 expressed frustration, stating, "They gave away the game for free so every copy is an extra £10/$10 they wouldn't have had but they decided to be awkward instead and cut out half the owner base. I'm not paying full price, it didn't even need a remaster."

However, not all PS Plus subscribers are taken aback by Sony's strategy. Some believe that Sony has conducted a thorough analysis and concluded that this restriction is the most financially prudent approach. Despite this, Sony is currently being branded as "stingy" by some of its most dedicated fans, who were hoping for a more generous policy from PlayStation.
