Following the March 2025 update, *Fields of Mistria* players can discover Essence Stones within chests scattered throughout the mines. My first encounter with these stones happened while searching for items to break the Fire Seal on Floor 60, but be aware that these chests can appear on any level across all existing biomes and floors. Be cautious of mimic enemies, which can easily be mistaken for chests but will harm you upon interaction.

Essence Stones come in four sizes: tiny, small, medium, and large. While the smaller stones are more commonly found, diligent searching can lead to the discovery of larger deposits. If finding them proves challenging, consider crafting them at the Stone Refinery, which you can build within the mines.

How to Craft Essence Stones in Fields of Mistria

The Stone Refinery, introduced in the March 2025 update, becomes available as part of a new story quest in *Fields of Mistria*. To access it, you must complete specific prerequisite quests, after which Adeline will enlist your help along with Olric and Errol to construct the refinery inside the mines.

To build the Stone Refinery, gather the following materials:

• x200 Wood
• x400 Stone
• x5,000 Tesserae

Once constructed, the Stone Refinery allows you to craft Essence Stones of various sizes using just Stone and Essence. The amount of materials required depends on the size of the stone you're crafting. Refer to the table below for detailed crafting requirements:

In addition to Essence Stones, the Stone Refinery is a versatile crafting hub where you can produce common materials, Refined Stone, and rare items such as Obsidian and Diamond. This makes it an invaluable resource for new builds and other projects in Mistria.

How to Use Essence Stones in Fields of Mistria

The March 2025 update brought the much-anticipated auto-petter and sprinkler mechanics to *Fields of Mistria*, both of which rely on Essence Stones for operation. Larger stones provide a longer-lasting charge, with Large Essence Stones offering the most extended duration.

The auto-petter mechanic is facilitated by the Animal Sprite Statue, which can be placed in Large Barns and Coops to automatically pet all animals inside each day, provided an Essence Stone is powering it. You can find this statue in a hidden cave near Errol’s house in the Narrows, accessible by using the Dragon’s Breath spell on the entrance. Once unlocked, you can craft additional statues if needed.

Similarly, the sprinkler mechanic is activated by the Water Sprite Statue, which you can place anywhere on your farm to automatically water crops within a 2-tile radius when powered by an Essence Stone. You can craft more of these statues to cover larger areas of your farm. Locate the statue and its crafting scroll on a small island east of the beach, beyond the Lighthouse area, accessible by swimming and using Dragon’s Breath on the entrance.

As *Fields of Mistria* continues to evolve, Essence Stones are likely to play an even more significant role in future updates from NPC Studio.
