The Yellow Orb is located in Merchantburg, a town initially represented as "???" on the map. Its name is determined by the merchant you hire and leave there. To obtain the Yellow Orb, you must establish and nurture this village.

Finding Merchantburg (???)

After obtaining the ship from the King of Portoga (following the Black Pepper quest), sail to the northeast corner of the map to find Merchantburg. If you have quest markers enabled, it will be clearly indicated.

Optimal Timing for Merchantburg

While orb acquisition order is flexible, establishing Merchantburg early is recommended. The town requires significant growth time before yielding the Yellow Orb. Establishing it early allows you to collect other orbs concurrently.

Acquiring the Yellow Orb

1. Hire a Merchant: In Aliahan, visit PALS and hire a new merchant. Minimize combat on your way back to ensure your new party member's safety.

2. Establish the Town: In Merchantburg, enter the building and speak to the old man. He'll need a merchant to start the town – this is where you assign your newly hired merchant. Once this happens, the town's name will be established.

3. Town Growth: After establishing Merchantburg, continue collecting the Purple (Orochi's Lair) and Blue (Gaia's Navel) Orbs. You'll receive notifications prompting you to return to Merchantburg as it grows through five stages. The final stage involves a large cabaret being built. After exiting the cabaret, be wary of a security guard who attempts to overcharge you.

4. The Merchant's Downfall: On your fourth visit, you'll notice the townsfolk growing weary of your merchant. This signals the final stages before obtaining the Yellow Orb.

5. The Yellow Orb's Revelation: On your fifth and final visit (at night), you'll find the merchant imprisoned in the house south of his own. Speak to him; he'll reveal the Yellow Orb's location. Return to his house; the orb will be marked behind the sofa.
