After the releases of The Witcher 3 and Cyberpunk 2077, several CD Projekt RED experts, including some key figures behind The Blood of Dawnwalker, chose to pursue independent ventures.

The Blood of Dawnwalker, recently revealed, is the brainchild of Rebel Wolves, a studio founded by a veteran of CD Projekt RED.

Mateusz Tomaszkiewicz, in explaining his departure from CDPR, highlighted several key reasons:

A desire to explore new creative avenues with close friends led to the formation of Rebel Wolves. Their shared passion for RPGs and their history fueled a belief that existing RPG conventions could be significantly expanded and improved upon. This led to the development of some truly innovative concepts. However, securing the backing of a large corporation to implement these novel ideas, especially with brand-new intellectual property, proved too challenging. Therefore, establishing their own studio became the necessary step to realize their ambitious vision. This independent approach, while inherently risky, allows for experimentation and creative freedom.

Unlike the complexities of larger studios, Rebel Wolves prioritizes strong interpersonal relationships and open communication within its small team. This fosters a collaborative environment where shared vision is easily discussed and implemented. This close-knit structure, Tomaszkiewicz believes, facilitates a stronger creative spark and ultimately makes developing something truly unique much easier.
