Games Workshop Awards $27M Staff Bonus Following Record Profits
The thriving success of Warhammer 40,000 creator Games Workshop continues, with the company announcing a £20 million (approximately $27 million) bonus distribution to its employees.
The Nottingham, UK-based firm, renowned for its Warhammer tabletop games and their rich universes, reported core revenue of £560 million for the 52 weeks ending June 1, 2025, a rise from £494.7 million in the prior period. Licensing revenue reached £50 million, up from £31 million. Core profit climbed to £210 million from £174.8 million, while licensing profit increased to £45 million from £27 million, resulting in a pre-tax profit of £255 million, compared to £203 million previously.
In acknowledgment of these substantial earnings and “to honor our employees’ role in achieving these results,” Games Workshop is distributing £20 million, an increase from last year’s £18 million bonus. The funds will be shared equally among its roughly 1,500 employees, equating to approximately £13,333 (about $18,000) per staff member.
Games Workshop’s primary business revolves around selling miniatures that fans assemble and paint for tabletop wargames like Warhammer 40,000. However, it is increasingly becoming an intellectual property powerhouse, generating significant revenue from successful video games such as Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2, and animated projects, including Amazon’s Warhammer 40,000 Secret Level episode. Last year, Games Workshop and Amazon sealed an agreement for Henry Cavill’s Warhammer 40,000 Cinematic Universe, which will produce films and TV series. Development is also underway for Space Marine 3.
What’s next for Games Workshop? The company noted that its licensing revenue hit an all-time high this period, though it does not anticipate matching this in 2025/26, despite remaining a key priority. Warhammer 40,000 and the broader Warhammer brand are experiencing unprecedented popularity, with these results indicating no signs of slowing down.
Games Workshop recently hosted its annual Warhammer Skulls showcase, and all the latest announcements and trailers are available here. Highlights include a Definitive Edition of Dawn of War and a new Siege mode for Space Marine 2.
