PlayStation Productions Unveils Ambitious Slate of Game Adaptations at CES 2025
PlayStation Productions made a splash at CES 2025, announcing a diverse range of video game adaptations slated for release in 2025 and beyond. The announcements, made on January 7th, 2025, included anime series, films, and a new season of a popular TV show.
New Adaptations Announced:
- Ghost of Tsushima: Legends (Anime Series): A new anime series based on the Ghost of Tsushima multiplayer mode, Legends, is in development with Crunchyroll and Aniplex, set to premiere exclusively on Crunchyroll in 2027. Takanobu Mizumo will direct, with Gen Urobuchi handling story composition, and Sony Music partnering on the soundtrack.

Horizon Zero Dawn (Film): Sony Pictures will produce a film adaptation of the popular Horizon Zero Dawn game.

Helldivers 2 (Film): Columbia Pictures will handle the film adaptation of Helldivers 2. Details on both films remain scarce.

The Last of Us Season Two (TV Series): Neil Druckmann revealed a new trailer for season two of The Last of Us, expanding on the story of The Last of Us Part II, introducing characters like Abby and Dina.
Past Successes and Ongoing Projects:
PlayStation Productions, established in 2019, has already seen success with adaptations like Uncharted (2022) and Gran Turismo (2023), both performing strongly at the box office. The Twisted Metal series, while not universally acclaimed, completed production of its second season in late 2024 (release date pending).
The studio also has several projects in the works, including films based on Days Gone and a sequel to Uncharted, as well as a God of War TV series.
The continued expansion of PlayStation Productions suggests a broader commitment to adapting its popular game franchises into other media, driven by audience demand and the proven success of previous ventures.
