The official story summary states, "Jason and Lucia have always known the deck is stacked against them. But when an easy score goes wrong, they find themselves on the darkest side of the sunniest place in America, caught in a criminal conspiracy spanning the state of Leonida. To survive, they must rely on each other like never before."

As detailed on the website, Jason is a former Army soldier attempting to escape a troubled past. However, he wound up in Leonida Keys and now works for local drug runners. His meeting with Lucia could turn out to be the best—or worst—thing to ever happen to him, and he's hoping for the best.

Lucia, on the other hand, learned to defend herself from her father as soon as she could walk. Her difficult childhood eventually led to time in Leonida Penitentiary. After her release, she vowed to make smarter decisions moving forward to provide the better life she and her mother dreamed of back in Liberty City.

Fresh out of prison, Lucia is determined to turn her luck around, and a partnership with Jason could be her ticket out. Players will experience Lucia and Jason’s journey alongside a diverse cast of characters that bring the sun-drenched Leonida Keys to life.

A Conspiracy Theorist, Local Vice City Legend, Veteran Bank Robber, and More

Beyond the two main characters, Rockstar Games has also introduced several other key figures. These include Jason's friend Cal Hampton, a conspiracy theorist who takes everything he reads online as fact. Despite his tendency toward paranoia, he enjoys life in the Keys and supports Jason in his larger ambitions.

Boobie Ike, a local legend, rules the streets of Vice City. He has transformed his life of street hustling into a legitimate empire, with investments in real estate, a strip club, and a recording studio. The game also explores the music industry through characters like Dre’Quan and the musical duo Real Dimez.

Other characters embody the criminal underbelly of the city. Raul Bautista is an experienced bank robber always willing to take big risks for even bigger payouts. Brian Heder runs a smuggling operation in the Keys and is a long-time player in the local drug trade. He lets Jason stay in one of his properties rent-free, provided Jason helps with local extortion jobs.

While the trailer hints at even more characters, the ones detailed by Rockstar Games so far highlight the diverse personalities living in the sun-soaked world of Vice City.

Vice City captures the essence of "American glamour, hustle, and greed." The location first appeared in 2002’s Grand Theft Auto: Vice City, and later in the 2006 title Grand Theft Auto: Vice City Stories. Modeled after the coastal city of Miami, it's known for its beaches and nonstop nightlife.

Key locations highlighted include the tropical Leonida Keys, the sprawling wilderness of Grassrivers, the forgotten coast of Port Gellhorn, the central hub of Ambrosia, and the national landmark Mount Kalaga.

In addition, Rockstar Games has shared new screenshots featuring characters, settings, and moments from the game. These images display the high-quality visuals and attention to detail expected from this long-awaited open-world action-adventure.
