Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment Revealed for Nintendo Switch 2
The Nintendo Switch 2 wouldn't be complete without a Zelda title, and today's Nintendo Direct brought an unexpected twist with the announcement of a new Hyrule Warriors game. Developed by Koei Tecmo, "Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment" serves as a prequel to "Tears of the Kingdom" and is slated for release this winter.
"Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment" introduces players to the ancient cast from "Tears of the Kingdom," featuring Zelda alongside key characters like Rauru, Sonia, and the Secret Stone holders. The game delves into Zelda's adventures after she travels back in time, where she allies with the last Zonai, Rauru, his sister Mineru, and his wife Sonia, to battle Ganondorf and his forces.

The trailer showcased the unique abilities of these champions, highlighting Mineru's mech, Zelda's magical prowess, Rauru wielding a striking sword-spear, and brief glimpses of other Sacred Stone users.
This marks the third installment in the Hyrule Warriors series, following the original "Hyrule Warriors" and "Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity," which was a prequel to "The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild." "Age of Calamity" was notable for its slightly unexpected narrative approach, earning a 9/10 from us for being "a joy to play and discover" and "a blast from start to finish."
