According to AusilMV, a well-known insider in the gaming community known for accurate leaks, Season 5 is being viewed as a last-ditch effort to save the game. When MultiVersus launched in 2022, it enjoyed explosive success, peaking at 153,000 concurrent players on Steam. However, the game's online presence plummeted by 99% shortly after, prompting Warner Bros. Games to shut down the project in June 2023, labeling it an "open beta test."
