Jason Momoa Hints at Lobo's Role in Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow: 'Looks Spot On'

Jason Momoa, previously known for his role as Aquaman in the now-defunct DC Extended Universe (DCEU), is set to take on the iconic role of Lobo in the upcoming DC Universe (DCU) film "Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow," slated for release in June 2026. Lobo, a character beloved by Momoa and created by Roger Slifer and Keith Giffen, first appeared in Omega Men #3 in 1983. As an alien interstellar mercenary and bounty hunter from the planet Czarnia, Lobo possesses superhuman strength and immortality, making him a formidable presence in the DC Universe.

From Aquaman to Lobo, Jason Momoa is crossing DC universes.

In a recent interview with ScreenRant, Momoa shared his excitement and nervousness about bringing Lobo to life, highlighting the character's rough and gruff nature. He teased that fans can expect a visually accurate portrayal of Lobo, including his iconic bike. However, Momoa also indicated that Lobo's appearance in the film will be brief, as the movie primarily focuses on Supergirl.

"Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow" marks the second installment in the rebooted DCU, following James Gunn's "Superman" set to hit theaters this summer. The film, inspired by the graphic novel of the same name by Tom King, Bilquis Evely, and Ana Norgueira, follows the story of Ruthye Marye Knoll, an alien girl seeking revenge for her father's murder with the help of Supergirl. The cast includes Milly Alcock as Supergirl, Matthias Schoenaerts as the villain Krem, Eve Ridley as Ruthye, David Krumholtz as Zor-El, and Emily Beecham as Supergirl's mother.

In January, DC co-chief James Gunn shared the first image of Milly Alcock as Supergirl on Bluesky, confirming that filming had begun. The DCU continues to expand its lineup, with the Clayface movie scheduled for September 2026.
