The hunt for demons is about to get animated as Netflix unveils its latest project: an anime adaptation of the iconic video game series, Devil May Cry. Fans got their first glimpse of what to expect with an exciting new trailer released by the streaming giant. Adding to the anticipation, the late, legendary voice actor Kevin Conroy will posthumously lend his voice to the series, marking another poignant performance from the celebrated actor known for voicing Batman in numerous animated projects.

In the series, Conroy takes on the role of VP Baines, a character introduced through voiceover in the trailer's opening. His contribution to the series comes after his critically acclaimed posthumous performance in Justice League: Crisis on Infinite Earths: Part 3, showcasing his enduring talent even after his passing in November 2022 at the age of 66. The cast is further enriched by Scout Taylor-Compton as Mary, Hoon Lee as White Rabbit, Chris Coppola as Enzo, and Johnny Yong Bosch, who voices the protagonist, Dante.

According to the official synopsis from Netflix, the series dives into a gripping narrative where "sinister forces are at play to open the portal between the human and demon realms." At the heart of this chaos is Dante, an orphaned demon-hunter-for-hire, who is unwittingly central to the fate of both worlds.

Adi Shankar, known for his executive production roles in films like the 2012 Judge Dredd reboot, Dredd, and other notable projects such as Killing Them Softly and The Voices, will serve as the showrunner for Devil May Cry. Shankar's involvement extends to other anticipated adaptations, including the long-awaited Assassin’s Creed series, though its release remains uncertain.

The animation will be brought to life by Studio Mir, a renowned South Korean studio with a portfolio that includes The Legend of Korra and X-Men '97. Fans can mark their calendars for the premiere of Devil May Cry on Netflix, set for April 3, 2025.
