When you're not engaged in a race, Free Roam mode offers a delightful mini-adventure. The world is brimming with hidden collectibles, such as coins and ? panels, though the exact benefits of collecting these items remain a mystery for now. Additionally, scattered P-Switches can be activated to trigger small challenges, like collecting blue coins, adding an extra layer of engagement to your exploration.

Moreover, Free Roam mode includes a versatile Photo Mode, enabling players to capture stunning photos of their racers in various poses and angles at any time. But Free Roam isn't limited to solo play; it's designed for social interaction as well. You and your friends can explore together, take photos, tackle challenges, or simply enjoy each other's company. Free Roam supports up to four players on the same system via split-screen, and up to eight players total through local wireless play, with two players per system.
