The widely popular hero shooter Marvel Rivals is experiencing tremendous success on PS5, Xbox Series, and PC. However, its developer NetEase has been clear that it won't be coming to the current Nintendo Switch, much to the disappointment of Nintendo fans eager to dive into the action. But what about the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2?

During a recent interview at the DICE Summit in Las Vegas, we had the chance to ask Marvel Rivals producer Weicong Wu about the possibility of a Nintendo Switch 2 release. Fortunately for Switch enthusiasts, it seems a release on the new console is definitely on the table.

Wu stated, "We're already in contact with Nintendo and working on some development kits. And whenever we find that we could provide great performance for our game on Switch 2, we're open to that. The reason we didn't launch it on the original Switch was that it couldn't provide a great experience for our gameplay. So if the Switch 2 can achieve that goal, we're definitely considering it."

The Nintendo Switch 2 was officially announced just last month. While details about its capabilities are still scarce, it promises to be a more powerful and enhanced version of the current Switch. One intriguing feature appears to be a mouse-like controller functionality, which could make playing shooters like Marvel Rivals feel more akin to a PC experience, though the exact implementation remains to be seen.

Currently, the Nintendo Switch 2 does not have a set release date, but a Nintendo Direct is scheduled for April 2, which may provide more information. Meanwhile, Marvel Rivals is available now on other platforms and has received high praise. In our 8/10 review, we noted that while it closely follows the footsteps of other hero shooters, "Marvel Rivals has firmly positioned itself to potentially claim the top spot in the genre." The latest heroes to join the game, The Human Torch and The Thing, are set to be added on February 21.
