A controversy has erupted surrounding Marvel Rivals after Nexus Mods removed over 500 user-created modifications in a single month. The removal of mods replacing Captain America's head with images of Joe Biden and Donald Trump sparked significant backlash.

Nexus Mods owner, TheDarkOne, clarified the situation on Reddit, stating that both mods were removed simultaneously to prevent accusations of political bias. TheDarkOne noted the curious silence from YouTube commentators regarding the even-handed removal.

However, this action led to a wave of online harassment targeting TheDarkOne and Nexus Mods. TheDarkOne reported receiving death threats and various other forms of abuse.

This isn't the first time Nexus Mods' moderation policies have ignited debate. A similar incident occurred in 2022 when a Spider-Man Remastered mod altering rainbow flags was removed. Nexus Mods publicly defended its commitment to inclusivity and its stance against discriminatory content.
