Dev Talk 11 Outlines Seasonal Rank Changes
Marvel Rivals has reversed its decision on mid-season rank resets after fan outcry. The official Marvel Rivals Twitter (X) account shared an update on seasonal rank adjustments, retracting earlier plans.
The change follows backlash to Dev Talk 10, which announced a rank reset dropping players four divisions. Fans criticized the system as demotivating, particularly for those climbing ranks, as resets were planned every 45 days or half-season.
In Dev Talk 11, Marvel Rivals confirmed no mid-season rank resets will occur. Players will keep their scores and ranks from the first half of the season. However, end-of-season resets will still drop players six divisions.
Human Torch, The Thing, and More Updates Incoming
Despite the rank reset reversal, other updates remain on track. New heroes Human Torch and The Thing will join the roster, bringing the total to 39 characters. NetEase Games plans to add two new playable heroes each three-month season.
Rewards for Gold rank and above are unchanged, with players earning a free Invisible Woman costume post-update. Grandmaster and higher ranks will receive Crests of Honor. At season’s end, new rewards, including another free costume and Crests of Honor for Grandmaster and above, will be awarded to Gold rank players.
Balance adjustments are also planned post-mid-season update, though specific details are yet to be revealed.
Marvel Rivals Engages Its Community
Fans praised Marvel Rivals’ swift response to criticism of the rank reset plan. Within hours of Dev Talk 10, the team addressed concerns with Dev Talk 11.
Marvel Rivals emphasized its commitment to players, stating, "We aim to make Marvel Rivals the best it can be, with our community as the heart of this goal! [...] Your passion and support drive us, and we’re thrilled to continue this journey together!"
