Announced at New York Comic Con's Marvel Games showcase, the PC version promises a fully optimized experience, developed by Nixxes Software in collaboration with Insomniac Games, PlayStation, and Marvel Games. Expect ray tracing, ultrawide monitor support, and extensive graphical options for a tailored PC experience. While features like DualSense adaptive triggers and haptic feedback won't be replicated, keyboard and mouse controls will be fully supported.
Nixxes Software, renowned for its PlayStation-to-PC ports (including Horizon and Ghost of Tsushima), assures a seamless transition. Julian Huijbregts, Nixxes Community Manager, highlights the team's commitment to delivering a top-tier PC port.
The PC release will include all previously released content updates, boasting twelve new suits (including Symbiote Suit variations), New Game+ mode, "Ultimate Levels," enhanced Photo Mode, new time-of-day options, and post-game achievements. The Digital Deluxe Edition will offer even more. However, no new story content will be added.
A Controversial PSN Requirement
A significant drawback is the mandatory PlayStation Network (PSN) account requirement. This mirrors a concerning trend in recent PlayStation PC ports, effectively barring access for players in regions lacking PSN availability. While Sony previously reversed a similar PSN requirement for Helldivers 2, the issue remains a point of contention for many gamers.
This requirement raises questions about the necessity of linking Steam accounts to PSN, especially in single-player titles. Despite this, the PC release of Marvel's Spider-Man 2 marks a significant step for Sony in expanding its reach beyond PlayStation consoles.
