The Hunting Horn isn't just about the melodies; it's also a formidable blunt weapon. Here are some essential combos to weave into your performances:

Overhead Smash Combo

This is a staple combo you should always incorporate. Simply move forward with the analog stick and press Triangle/Y + Circle/B twice to execute the Overhead Smash and its follow-up. Consistently landing this combo might even stun the monster, so aim accurately and hit hard.

Performance Combo

Once you've stacked your desired songs, it's time to perform. This combo not only plays your melodies but also adds damage. Move forward with the analog stick, press R2/RT to start the performance, and follow up with Triangle/Y + Circle/B for an Encore to boost and extend your Melody Effects.

Echo Bubble Combo

The Hunting Horn's unique Echo Bubble mechanic is particularly effective against incapacitated enemies. Start with the Echo Bubble (Cross/A + R2/RT), then follow with Triangle/Y, Circle/B, Circle/B for Echo Wave (Blunt), R2/RT to Perform, and finish with an Encore (Triangle/Y + Circle/B).

Hunting Horn Tips

Mastering the Hunting Horn involves controlling your buffs and timing your damage output, especially when playing with others.

All About the Notes

Understanding how to build songs with different notes is crucial. Each Hunting Horn has unique songs requiring specific note combinations. Keep an eye on the top right corner of the screen to see which command corresponds to the needed note. Attacks like Flourish and Overhead Smash allow you to add notes during the second attack, making it easier to stack your desired songs. You can also play notes while riding your Seikret to chase down monsters.

Buff City

Once you're familiar with the notes, stack them to play songs. You can perform multiple songs in succession for various buffs. Choose buffs that suit your current situation, and remember that performing them takes time.

Echo Chamber

Always use Echo Bubbles to create an advantageous battlefield. They not only provide three more note inputs but also amplify your damage. The increased Evasion and Movement Speed within the Echo Bubble enhance survivability, making it essential to use before attacking, especially in High Rank hunts.

Self-Improvement is Key

Ensure your Self-Improvement skill is at least level 2. This boosts your attacks by 20%, increasing your damage potential and reducing the time needed to defeat monsters.

Always be Prepared With Special Performances

Keep a Special Performance ready at all times. For example, the Offset Melody, once prepared, won't be overwritten until you decide to use it. When a monster attacks, input the Special Performance command (R2/RT + Triangle/Y + Circle/B), hold the stance, and release just as the monster hits to knock it down.

With these tips and strategies, you're well on your way to mastering the Hunting Horn in *Monster Hunter Wilds*. For more guidance, be sure to check out The Escapist.
