Metro 2033's "Cursed" Mission: A Comprehensive Guide

Despite its age, Metro 2033 remains a fan favorite, especially after the release of Metro Awakening. This guide focuses on the challenging "Cursed" mission, often confusing for players due to unclear objectives and the station's layout. This mission begins after the railcar ride to Turgenevskaya station (the Cursed Station).

Locating the Bomb

After reaching the defenders near the barricaded escalators, you'll learn an explosives team went missing while attempting to collapse a tunnel. Your task: find and detonate the bomb. Expect constant nosalis attacks; retreat to the defenders for support if overwhelmed. The bomb is located at the far end of the right-hand tunnel. Avoid the ghostly shadows – they'll damage you. Once you have the bomb, either proceed to the adjacent tunnel or retreat if necessary.

Destroying the Tunnel

To detonate the bomb, enter the left-hand tunnel (from the defenders' perspective). A cutscene will trigger, automatically placing and lighting the fuse. Escape immediately; the blast is lethal. Alternatively, a grenade or pipe bomb in the same tunnel area achieves the same result. Note: nosalises will still infiltrate via other routes.

Destroying the Airlock

The mission isn't over yet. The defenders mentioned an airlock. To find it, ascend the stairs on the right of the main platform to the torchlit area. Ignore the nosalises. Interact with the support columns to place and detonate a pipe bomb, then evacuate quickly. With both tunnel and airlock destroyed, proceed with Khan to the shrine room, initiating the "Armory" mission. A video walkthrough is available (link omitted for brevity).
