The topic of AI and its integration into gaming is quite... let's say divisive. The debate (if you can even call it that) often hinges on where the line lies between easing development workloads and handing everything over to a machine. And if you're particularly against it, Motto Immortal might be your perfect nightmare.

From the outset, it's self-evident that Motto Immortal relies heavily on AI, especially for its art. Underneath the hood, we have a fairly typical card-based roguelite where you collect various cards based on goddesses to build your own deck.

Where it differs is in the options outside of that core gameplay: from being able to transfigure your preferred card's appearance with prompts, to even chatting individually with the characters depicted within them.

I'm not about to judge someone who uses AI to chat with their favorite character from a film, book, or game. But at the same time, I do question the wisdom behind Motto Immortal.

My understanding is that most people using these tools are already invested in a specific character. No doubt this helps mask the inherent issues with AI for them. However, Motto Immortal expects you to be invested from the start, in what is (let's be honest) a fairly generic cast of characters.

Essentially, Motto Immortal offers nothing compelling enough to entice either those willing to overlook the AI elements or even those enthusiastic about the technology.
