Indie studio We Are Muesli recently unveiled their upcoming narrative game, In Their Shoes, scheduled for release in 2026 across both mobile and PC platforms. The game has already garnered attention by earning a nomination in the prestigious 'A MAZE. 2025' independent and arthouse games awards in Berlin.

In Their Shoes: A Narrative Experience Rooted in Empathy

Set against the backdrop of present-day Milan—a city brimming with contrasts—the game invites players to step into the shoes of seven distinct characters. Through 49 short, interactive narratives known as "Moments," players are given intimate glimpses into everyday life.

Each Moment immerses you in the hesitations, routines, and pivotal choices of the characters. While some unfold at a leisurely pace, encouraging reflection, others demand quick responses, capturing the urgency of real-life scenarios. Unlike traditional narrative-driven games, In Their Shoes eschews linear storytelling. Instead, players piece together fragmented tales to reveal 26 hidden biographical details for each character, offering an authentic slice-of-life experience.

Based in Milan, Italy, We Are Muesli has been crafting innovative and thought-provoking games and projects since 2013. Known for experimental visual novels such as CAVE! CAVE! DEUS VIDET. and Venti Mesi, as well as collaborative art projects like Siheyuan and narrative escape rooms like Ludmilla and Ventiquattro Elle, the studio consistently pushes creative boundaries.
