Ninja Gaiden 2 Black Update Adds New Game Plus and More
Team Ninja's substantial update for Ninja Gaiden 2 Black (version 1.0.7.0) introduces highly anticipated features and numerous improvements. Available now on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC (Steam & Microsoft Store), this patch fulfills a January promise to address community feedback.
Key additions include New Game Plus, allowing players to restart with previously acquired weapons and Ninpo (reset to level 1), and a Photo Mode for capturing in-game moments. A quality-of-life enhancement lets players toggle the visibility of their projectile weapon via the Options > Game Settings menu.
Balance adjustments include enemy HP reductions in Chapters 8 and 11, increased enemy counts in Chapters 13 and 14, and a damage boost for some of Ayane's attacks. The patch also resolves several bugs, including high-performance PC issues, progression-blocking glitches in specific chapters, and crashes related to extended play sessions.
Originally a surprise January release during the Xbox Developer Direct, Ninja Gaiden 2 Black leverages Unreal Engine 5 for enhanced visuals, new playable characters, and improved combat mechanics. IGN's 8/10 review praised its visual improvements over Sigma 2, while noting that the enemy health adjustments might not make it the definitive version.
