Nintendo Switch 2: 120fps, 4K Resolution When Docked
After years of speculation, the long-awaited details on Nintendo's upgraded console, the Nintendo Switch 2, have finally been revealed, and the results are quite impressive. The new system boasts capabilities that exceed many expectations, including support for 120fps and up to 4K resolution when docked.
During today's Nintendo Switch 2 Direct, Nintendo showcased several key features of the system. The Nintendo Switch 2 features a larger 7.9-inch built-in screen compared to its predecessor, the Switch 1, while maintaining the same thickness of 13.9mm. This new screen offers double the pixels, supporting a 1080p resolution in handheld mode at up to 120fps. It's an LCD screen with HDR support, and when docked, it can handle up to 4K resolution with HDR as well.The Joy-Con 2 controllers now connect via magnets and can be detached using a release button on the back. The SL and SR buttons on the side have been enlarged for better gameplay in horizontal mode, and the left and right sticks are also larger. Additionally, this segment officially introduced mouse control support within the Joy-Con controllers.
The handheld version of the Switch 2 includes a built-in microphone with noise-canceling technology and supports 3D audio for compatible games. It also features a larger, more robust stand that can be adjusted to various heights. There's a top USB port that can be used for external camera connectivity or to charge the system while in tabletop mode.
Lastly, the Nintendo Switch 2 comes equipped with 256GB of internal storage.
