The game's launch was a phenomenal success, breaking sales and concurrent player records. This success led to significant financial gains, reportedly exceeding Pocketpair's capacity to manage, according to CEO Takuro Mizobe. Capitalizing on this momentum, Pocketpair partnered with Sony to establish Palworld Entertainment, aiming to expand the IP and further develop the franchise.

However, Palworld's journey isn't without challenges. A high-profile patent lawsuit with Nintendo and The Pokémon Company casts a shadow over its future. Nintendo and The Pokémon Company are seeking significant financial compensation and an injunction, citing three Japanese patents related to the core mechanic of capturing creatures in a virtual field – a mechanic present in Palworld's Pal Sphere system, reminiscent of Pokémon Legends: Arceus. While Pocketpair recently altered the Pal summoning mechanic, the reason remains unconfirmed.
