Max has unveiled an exciting new trailer for Peacemaker Season 2, which deepens its ties to the Superman narrative by introducing key characters Maxwell Lord, Hawkgirl, and Guy Gardner right from the opening scene.

The trailer begins with a tense interview scene featuring Sean Gunn as Maxwell Lord, Nathan Fillion as Guy Gardner / Green Lantern, and Isabela Merced as Kendra Saunders / Hawkgirl. They are seen dismissively questioning John Cena's character, Peacemaker, about joining a superhero team. The interview quickly deteriorates, leaving Peacemaker visibly dejected as he storms out of the building.

This trailer offers the first glimpse of these supporting characters, who are also slated to appear in James Gunn's upcoming Superman film.

Peacemaker Season 2 is set to premiere on August 21, following the release of Superman on July 11. This makes it the third entry in the newly established DCU, which was inaugurated by the Creature Commandos TV series late last year.

James Gunn and co-CEO Peter Safran are steering the DCU away from the critically maligned DC Extended Universe, which included films like Justice League, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, and Man of Steel. However, certain elements from the old universe will persist into the new. Peacemaker serves as a prime example of this continuity, having debuted in the DCEU with its first season and now transitioning into the DCU with its second.

Furthermore, Gunn has stated that Peacemaker Season 2 will be set after the events of both Creature Commandos and Superman, with the latter's events directly impacting Peacemaker's storyline.
