The Pokémon Company has announced that the Pokémon Fossil Museum will open in North America in May 2026.

For those unfamiliar with the Pokémon Fossil Museum, it’s a unique exhibit that juxtaposes crafted Pokémon "fossils" with authentic ancient fossils. Following its success in Japan, the exhibition will make its international debut at Chicago's Field Museum on May 22, 2026, marking its first appearance outside Japan.

"During your visit, you’ll explore vivid Pokémon models displayed alongside extinct creatures from the Field Museum’s collection, including scientific casts of dinosaurs like SUE the T. rex and the Chicago Archaeopteryx, next to Fossil Pokémon such as Tyrantrum and Archeops," the museum stated. "How many similarities and differences will you discover, Trainers?"

For fans unable to travel to Japan or Chicago, The Pokémon Company and Toyohashi Museum of Natural History offer a virtual tour of the Pokémon Fossil Museum. This online experience allows Pokémon enthusiasts to explore the collection of real and fictional fossils, from a tyrannosaurus to a Tyrantrum, from anywhere.

In other Pokémon-related news, authorities in the UK recently arrested a man after uncovering a stash of stolen Pokémon cards valued at £250,000 (approximately $332,500). The discovery was made during a raid by Greater Manchester Police at a residence in Hyde, Tameside, near Greater Manchester. A police spokesperson quipped, "Gotta catch 'em all."
