Will Wright, creator of The Sims, recently unveiled further details about his new AI-powered life simulation game, Proxi, during a Twitch livestream with BreakthroughT1D. This innovative title, initially announced in 2018, is finally gaining momentum.

A Deep Dive into Personalized Gameplay

The livestream, part of BreakthroughT1D's Dev Diaries series, provided valuable insights into Proxi's core mechanics. The game leverages the power of AI to transform players' personal memories into interactive, animated scenes. Players input their memories as text, and the game renders them visually, allowing for customization using in-game assets.

Each memory, referred to as a "mem," enhances the game's AI and populates the player's "mind world"—a navigable 3D environment composed of hexagons. As the mind world expands, so does the presence of Proxies, digital representations of the player's friends and family, enriching the experience. These memories, arranged chronologically and linked to Proxies, create a dynamic, personal narrative. Remarkably, Proxies can even be exported to other game worlds, such as Minecraft and Roblox.

Wright emphasized Proxi's focus on creating a deeply personal and engaging experience, stating, "I found myself getting continuously closer and closer to the player. Kind of a saying I've lived by, which is that no game designer has ever gone wrong by overestimating the narcissism of their players." He jokingly added, "It goes to figure that the more I can make a game about you, the more you'll like it."

The game aims to forge "magical connections with memories and bring them to life." Proxi is now featured on Gallium Studio's website, with platform announcements expected soon.
