Razor Laptops Pulled Over Trump PC Tariffs
The new import tariffs introduced by the Trump administration are once again hitting American gamers, with Razer's Blade 16 gaming laptop being the latest casualty.
Tariffs function as taxes on imported goods. Companies along the supply chain may choose to absorb these extra costs, but they are usually passed on to shoppers. For gaming enthusiasts, this likely means higher prices for tech and gaming hardware.
In some cases, products are being temporarily withdrawn from the market. As reported by The Verge, even though the Blade 16 was available for purchase in the U.S. as of April 1, the option to buy the laptop has since been removed from Razer's site.
While gamers in Europe can currently order the new laptop (if it's in stock—though it's currently unavailable in the UK), the U.S. site only allows potential customers to click a "Notify Me" button for updates—with no pricing information visible at all. Attempting to visit the purchase page leads to a 404 error.
Razer isn't the only company quietly suspending sales while the market stabilizes. Tariffs targeting China and Taiwan—key manufacturing hubs for PC components—are expected to affect U.S. consumers as well. Memory producer Micron has warned about potential price increases, and PC maker Framework has completely "temporarily paused" certain U.S. sales.
Just last week, pre-order dates for the Nintendo Switch 2—previously listed as April 9—were pulled in the U.S. after President Trump's tariff announcement caused market turmoil. Shortly after, the issue reached Canada, with Nintendo Canada confirming that pre-orders would be delayed there as well.
Nintendo fans and market analysts are now worried that Nintendo may further raise prices for the Switch 2 and its games, especially given the existing criticism over the console’s announced pricing.
