A former employee of Respawn Entertainment disclosed on her LinkedIn profile that the studio has recently ceased development on a new game project. This project, which had been in the works for several years, was abruptly halted this week, leaving fans and followers without any clear explanation for the decision.

Last year, gaming journalist Jeff Grubb reported that this now-canceled project was not intended to be a mainline entry in the popular Titanfall series, explicitly ruling out the possibility of it being Titanfall 3. To bring this game to life, Respawn assembled a dedicated "experimental team" comprised of experts skilled in crafting multiplayer shooters.

This isn't the first time Respawn has had to pull the plug on a promising project. Last year, the studio also canceled an arcade shooter known internally as Titanfall Legends, marking another setback for the studio's ambitious endeavors.

The Titanfall series, known for its exhilarating mix of action and mech piloting, has captivated gamers since its debut in 2014. Players can engage in combat as agile pilots or command formidable Titans, experiencing a unique blend of parkour and intense team-based battles that have cemented the franchise's place in the gaming community.

Moving forward, Respawn Entertainment is now channeling its efforts into other high-profile projects. The studio is currently developing the eagerly anticipated third installment of the Star Wars Jedi series, alongside a new strategy game set in the expansive Star Wars universe, crafted in partnership with Bit Reactor.
