Rockstar Releases Bully Anniversary Update After Six Years
Rockstar Games, renowned for their work on the iconic GTA series, recently surprised fans by releasing an Anniversary Edition update for Bully on mobile platforms. Yes, after six long years, the studio finally graced mobile gamers with a touch-up. However, this update is exclusive to mobile and hasn’t made its way to consoles or PCs yet.
Despite the delay, it’s clear Rockstar hasn’t forgotten about Bullworth Academy. The Bully: Anniversary Edition update introduces several refinements, including language updates and a focus on stability improvements and bug fixes. For now, Rockstar has temporarily paused Friends Challenges.
Android users with compatible devices will enjoy the addition of Screen Space Ambient Occlusion (SSAO), while both platforms now feature an updated app icon and haptic feedback. Specific issues such as the infamous locked locker in 'That Bitch' featuring Mandy, the unresponsive 'Weed Killer' mission, and police cars falling through the floor in 'The Rumble' have been resolved. Additionally, enemies refusing to engage Jimmy during fights and crashes triggered by starting new games or loading saves from the pause menu have been addressed.
Player Reactions to the Bully: Anniversary Edition Update
For years, fans have clamored for a Bully 2, but Rockstar seems to have shifted its focus toward GTA 6. Reports suggest that a sequel was once in development during the 2010s but was shelved in favor of Red Dead Redemption 2 and GTA Online. With the upcoming release of GTA 6, a Bully 2 sequel doesn’t seem likely, especially since many of the original developers have moved on.
While the new update isn’t a full remaster or sequel, it’s a welcome enhancement for mobile players. If you’ve never experienced Bully, think of it as Rockstar’s take on a schoolyard sandbox game. You play as Jimmy Hopkins, a rebellious 15-year-old navigating life at Bullworth Academy. The game combines the classic Rockstar humor with open-world mischief.
Ready to dive in? You can find Bully: Anniversary Edition on the Google Play Store for €7.99, complete with full gamepad support.
