Scarlett Johansson: Black Widow's Fate Sealed

Marvel Cinematic Universe mainstay Scarlett Johansson has definitively stated that Black Widow remains officially deceased, showing no interest in reprising her iconic role. During her InStyle interview, the actress reflected on Natasha Romanoff's legacy while promoting her upcoming blockbuster Jurassic World Rebirth.
"She's Gone For Good" - Johansson's Final Verdict
The Academy Award-nominated actress provided a blunt response to persistent fan theories about her character's potential resurrection. "Natasha is gone. She's truly gone. *Completely gone.* Understand?" Johansson emphasized when addressing calls for her MCU return.
Though Johansson's final appearance as the super-spy came in 2021's Black Widow prequel, the character canonically sacrificed herself in 2019's Avengers: Endgame to save Hawkeye. Despite Marvel's typically flexible approach to character deaths, Johansson insists her arc has reached its natural conclusion.
"Fans refuse to accept it," Johansson observed. "They keep insisting, 'But she could return!' Listen - the entire universe's balance depended on her choice. We need to honor that heroic sacrifice."
The MCU's Resurrection Problem
Speculation about deceased characters returning predates Black Widow's dramatic Vormir sacrifice. Upcoming crossover events Avengers: Doomsday (2026) and Avengers: Secret Wars (2027) have fueled theories about potential cameos from departed heroes.

While Robert Downey Jr. prepares to trade Iron Man's armor for Doctor Doom's mask, rumors persist about other legacy actors returning. Chris Evans has denied reports of his Captain America comeback, but the speculation continues. Hayley Atwell's Peggy Carter has died twice already yet remains rumored for future appearances.
With Marvel's multiversal storytelling offering endless possibilities, fan theories continue despite Johansson's definitive statements. Audiences will have to wait until 2026-2027 to discover which heroes - living or dead - appear in the next Avengers saga.
