Shift Up, the developer behind the action-packed game Stellar Blade, has reported a record-breaking financial year, largely thanks to the success of Stellar Blade. The game generated an impressive $43.2 million in royalties, contributing to Shift Up's total revenue of $151.4 million in 2024, marking a significant 30.4% increase from the previous year.

According to Game World Observer, the financial success of Stellar Blade shows no signs of waning. Shift Up is optimistic about the upcoming PC version, expecting it to surpass the sales of the original PlayStation 5 release, particularly in the Asian market. This anticipation is fueled by the game's strong performance, which saw it sell a million copies shortly after its launch and earn a 7/10 rating from IGN.

In IGN's review, Stellar Blade was praised for its engaging action role-playing game combat, where players control Eve in her mission to reclaim Earth from unknown invaders. However, the review also noted some shortcomings, stating, "Stellar Blade is great in all of the most important ways for an action game, but dull characters, a lackluster story, and several frustrating elements of its RPG mechanics prevent it from soaring along with the best of the genre."

Looking ahead, Shift Up is not resting on its laurels. The company plans to unveil its new project, Project Witches, in the first half of 2025. Although this new game was announced shortly after Stellar Blade's release on PS5, it is not a sequel to the popular title. Nonetheless, Shift Up has expressed interest in potentially developing another game within the Stellar Blade franchise, hinting at future expansions in this universe.
