This reassurance came in response to a fan's plea for any sign of progress on the sequel.

The intrigue began when Hollow Knight co-creator William Pellen changed his X profile picture to a cake, leading fans to speculate about a potential Silksong ARG or an announcement for the Nintendo Switch 2. However, YouTuber fireb0rn reached out to Griffin and discovered that the change was simply a "nothingburger" – a harmless switch with no deeper meaning. Fireb0rn apologized for any confusion, tweeting, "Apologies to have misled everyone. The cake was a lie."

Despite the cake-related confusion, Griffin reaffirmed the game's status, stating, "Yes the game is real, progressing and will release." This update marks the first significant communication from Team Cherry about Silksong in over a year and a half, rekindling hope among fans.

Silksong’s Six-Year-Long History

First unveiled in February 2019, Silksong was originally set to launch in the first half of 2023. However, in May 2023, Team Cherry announced a delay, citing the game's expansion and their desire to enhance it further. They revealed that Silksong would introduce players to a new kingdom, feature nearly 150 new enemies, and include a new difficulty level called Silk Soul mode.
