Fans of Hollow Knight: Silksong can breathe a sigh of relief as developer Team Cherry has confirmed that the much-anticipated game will indeed be released on the original Nintendo Switch, alongside its planned launch on the upcoming Switch 2. This reassurance comes after the game made a brief appearance at the Nintendo Direct for Switch 2 on April 2, leading to speculation that it might skip the current-generation console.

Silksong Developer Reaffirms Release For Switch 1

Originally announced in 2019 for PC and the original Nintendo Switch, Silksong later expanded its platform reach to include PlayStation and Xbox consoles. The swift showcase during the Switch 2 Direct sparked concerns among fans about the game's availability on the current-gen Switch. Addressing these concerns, Team Cherry's Marketing and PR Handler, Matthew Griffin, took to Twitter (now known as X) on April 8 to confirm that Silksong will be available on both the original Switch and the Switch 2.

While details on how the versions will differ remain under wraps, it's expected that the Switch 2 version will benefit from the console's enhanced capabilities, potentially offering a higher resolution and improved performance.

New Silksong Images Revealed

Following the Switch 2 Direct, Nintendo Japan's official website released new images of Silksong. These images, while showcasing familiar locations, displayed noticeable graphical enhancements compared to the initial reveal back in 2019. Although Team Cherry continues to keep details about the game closely guarded, these developments and recent changes to Silksong's Steam metadata have fueled fans' hopes for an imminent release announcement.
