角川集团保持独立性
根据新的联盟协议，索尼以约500亿日元的价格收购了约1200万股新股。这些股份加上2021年2月之前收购的股份，使索尼现在持有角川集团约10%的股份。今年11月，路透社曾报道索尼计划收购角川集团。然而，此次合作使角川集团得以保持独立运营。
正如其新闻稿中所述，这项战略资本和业务联盟协议旨在加强两家公司之间的联系，通过联合投资和推广，“最大限度地提高两家公司的知识产权价值”，例如：专注于将角川集团的知识产权改编成真人电影和电视剧在全球发行；联合制作动画相关作品；通过索尼集团在全球发行和出版角川集团的动画作品和电子游戏作品，从而扩大角川集团的影响力等等。
角川集团首席执行官夏野刚表示：“我们非常高兴与索尼达成这项资本和业务联盟协议。这项联盟预计不仅会进一步增强我们的知识产权创造能力，而且还会在索尼支持全球扩张的情况下增加我们的知识产权媒体组合选择，使我们能够将知识产权传递给全球更多用户。”他还补充说，他们相信这项联盟将极大地促进两家公司在全球市场的发展。
索尼集团总裁、首席运营官兼首席财务官户冢宏树表示：“通过将角川集团广泛的知识产权和知识产权创造生态系统与索尼的优势相结合——索尼一直在推动包括动画和游戏在内的各种娱乐项目的全球扩张——我们计划密切合作，实现角川集团旨在最大化其知识产权价值的‘全球媒体组合’战略，以及索尼的长期愿景‘创意娱乐愿景’。”

角川集团是一家日本企业集团，在其本土市场拥有相当大的影响力，尤其是在日本动画和漫画出版、电影、电视甚至电子游戏制作等多个多媒体领域。最值得注意的是，它拥有《辉夜大小姐想让我告白》、《转生史莱姆》和《从零开始的异世界生活》等热门动画的知识产权，也是《艾尔登法环》和《装甲核心》开发商FromSoftware的母公司。
FromSoftware还在游戏大奖上宣布，该系列的合作独立衍生作品《艾尔登法环：夜之统治》将于2025年推出。
