SwitchArcade Round-Up: ‘Pizza Tower’, ‘Castlevania Dominus Collection’, Plus Today’s Other Releases and Sales
Hello discerning readers, and welcome to the SwitchArcade Round-Up for August 28th, 2024. Yesterday's presentation was packed with exciting announcements, wasn't it? A significant number of games were shadow-dropped, making for a surprisingly busy Wednesday. We've got news, a review of today's eShop additions, and our usual sales lists. Let's dive in!
News
The Partner/Indie World Showcase Delivered
Combining two smaller showcases was a smart move, resulting in a flurry of announcements. While a complete rundown is impossible here, highlights include several shadow-dropped titles (detailed below), Capcom Fighting Collection 2, the Suikoden I & II remasters, Yakuza Kiwami, Tetris Effect: Connected, MySims, Worms Armageddon: Anniversary Edition, new Atelier and Rune Factory entries, and much more. I highly recommend watching the video for a comprehensive overview. A wealth of titles caters to diverse gaming preferences.
Notable New Releases
Castlevania Dominus Collection ($24.99)

A third Castlevania compilation emerged from the Direct's shadow drops. This collection features the three Nintendo DS titles: Dawn of Sorrow, Portrait of Ruin, and Order of Ecclesia. It also includes the infamous arcade game, Haunted Castle, alongside an M2-developed remake that significantly improves upon the original. The emulation is superb, offering a comprehensive and valuable package at an exceptional price.
Pizza Tower ($19.99)

This Wario Land-inspired platformer makes its Switch debut as another shadow drop. Players navigate five challenging floors of the Pizza Tower to save their restaurant. Fans of Wario's handheld adventures will appreciate this title, but even those without a strong Wario connection should consider it if they enjoy fast-paced platforming. A review is pending.
Goat Simulator 3 ($29.99)

Continuing the shadow drop trend, Goat Simulator 3 arrives on Wednesday. The gameplay is familiar to fans of the series. Performance on the Switch remains to be seen, as more powerful consoles have experienced occasional issues. Proceed with caution, but even subpar performance might align with the game's inherently chaotic nature. Expect silly goats and potentially, a stressed-out Switch.
Peglin ($19.99)

While it's easy to criticize missed opportunities, EA's decision to omit PopCap games from the Switch seems like a significant oversight. Peglin provides a worthy alternative for Peggle enthusiasts. Previously available on mobile, this title blends Peggle mechanics with turn-based RPG roguelite elements. A review is forthcoming.
Doraemon Dorayaki Shop Story ($20.00)

Kairosoft's familiar shop simulation formula receives a fresh coat of paint with the Doraemon license. Doraemon Dorayaki Shop Story features characters from the popular manga and anime, and even includes cameos from the creator's other works.
Pico Park 2 ($8.99)

More Pico Park for existing fans. Up to eight players can participate locally or online in cooperative puzzle-solving. While enjoyable, it doesn't offer enough innovation to attract new players.
Kamitsubaki City Ensemble ($3.99)

An affordable rhythm game featuring Kamitsubaki Studio's music. Simple but enjoyable at its price point.
SokoPenguin ($4.99)

A Sokoban-style puzzle game with a penguin theme. One hundred levels await.
Q2 Humanity ($6.80)

Over three hundred quirky physics-based puzzles. Players utilize character abilities and drawing mechanics. Supports up to four players locally or online.
