Sphere Defense: A Tower Defense Classic Reborn on Android

Tomnoki Studio's Sphere Defense is a new tower defense game for Android, drawing strong inspiration from the classic geoDefense by David Whatley. The developer, a longtime fan of geoDefense, sought to recreate its elegantly simple yet challenging gameplay.

The Core Concept

The game's premise is straightforward: Earth ("The Sphere") faces imminent destruction from alien invaders. Humanity, driven underground, develops new technology to fight back. After years of setbacks, humanity finally amasses sufficient firepower to launch a counteroffensive, and you lead the charge to save the planet.

Gameplay

Sphere Defense faithfully replicates the classic tower defense formula. Players deploy various units, each with unique strengths, to repel waves of enemies. Successful defenses earn resources to expand and upgrade your arsenal, demanding increasingly strategic deployments at higher difficulty levels.

Three difficulty settings (easy, normal, and hard) are available, each with 10 stages lasting 5 to 15 minutes. See the game in action:

Diverse Turret Arsenal

Sphere Defense features seven distinct unit types, offering strategic depth through varied combinations. These include:

• Offensive Units: Standard Attack Turrets (single-target), Area Attack Turrets (area-of-effect), and Piercing Attack Turrets (for linear enemy formations).
• Support Units: Cooling Turrets and Incendiary Turrets, enhancing the effectiveness of offensive units.
• Precision Units: Fixed-Point Attack Units (precise missile strikes) and Linear Attack Units (satellite laser attacks).
