World of Warcraft's Feast of Winter Veil: A Lore-Filled Holiday Celebration

The annual World of Warcraft Feast of Winter Veil event, a digital Christmas celebration, returns with fresh rewards and festive items. A new lore video, a collaboration with PlatinumWoW, delves into the holiday's rich history.

This in-game event mirrors real-world Christmas traditions, offering players special rewards and activities each year, including newly added collectible items.

The video, narrated by PlatinumWoW, explores the holiday's origins, weaving together Dwarven myths of Greatfather Winter (a Titan-forged giant), Tauren traditions of spiritual renewal and gratitude to the Earthmother, and the modern commercialization of Winter Veil by the Goblin-run Smokeywood Pastures.

A Metzen-Sized Mystery

The video wouldn't be complete without mentioning the infamous Metzen the Reindeer, named after Chris Metzen. This reindeer has endured three separate kidnappings: by pirates and Dark Iron dwarves in Classic WoW, and by the Grinch in the current iteration. The video concludes with a humorous thank you from Metzen, voiced in Thrall's iconic tone (a nod to Metzen's voice acting).

A Fruitful Partnership

This isn't PlatinumWoW's first collaboration with Blizzard. Previous videos have explored Nerubians, Vrykul, the Scourge, World Trees, Blackrock Depths, and even provided guidance on events like Season of Discovery and Plunderstorm.
