HOW THE GAME WORKS
Kahoot! Algebra by DragonBox introduces key algebraic principles, including:
- Addition
- Division
- Multiplication
Suitable for ages five and up, this app helps young learners become comfortable with fundamental equation-solving techniques.
The game employs a unique pedagogical approach centered on discovery and experimentation. Within a vibrant, playful interface, players are encouraged to use creativity while manipulating cards to isolate the DragonBox character on one side of the board. Through this process, users naturally learn the operations needed to solve for X. Gradually, visual cards transition into numbers and variables, revealing the addition, division, and multiplication operators practiced throughout the game.
No adult supervision is necessary during play, though parents can help children apply these skills to traditional paper-and-pencil problems. It serves as an excellent bonding activity for families while offering adults a fun way to refresh their own math knowledge.
Created by former mathematics educator Jean-Baptiste Huynh, DragonBox is widely recognized as a pioneer in game-based learning. Its effectiveness has even inspired extensive research at the University of Washington’s Center For Game Science.
