Krafton has taken a significant step to distance itself from the ongoing legal issues involving Ironmace Studios by rebranding Dark and Darker Mobile to Abyss of Dungeons. This name change appears to be the primary adjustment, with minimal alterations expected beyond the title and possibly some elements specific to the original Dark and Darker branding.

For those unfamiliar with the situation, Ironmace Studios has been locked in a legal battle with Nexon, who alleges that Ironmace misused trade secrets. The crux of the issue is that Ironmace was founded by former Nexon employees, and Nexon claims that these individuals utilized assets or ideas developed during their tenure at Nexon to create Dark and Darker.

Despite the ongoing nature of the lawsuit, the rebranding of Dark and Darker Mobile to Abyss of Dungeons confirms earlier rumors we reported back in February. The good news for fans is that the core gameplay mechanics are expected to remain unchanged. Dark and Darker Mobile had already introduced significant deviations from the original, such as a third-person perspective, but the rebranding won't lead to a complete overhaul of these elements.

This development might be disappointing for Ironmace enthusiasts, but there's hope that the legal battles will resolve soon, allowing fans to enjoy Abyss of Dungeons as a complementary experience to the main PC release of Dark and Darker. An upcoming soft launch is scheduled for June 11th in Brazil, Thailand, Indonesia, and Mexico.
